Godpleasers

Sample link & opt-in flow

This page exists for two reasons: to demonstrate where links sent in Godpleasers SMS messages lead, and to publicly document the program's opt-in workflow.

Where SMS links go

Godpleasers SMS messages may include links to:

All links go to domains owned by the program: godpleasers.app and a private S3 media bucket. The program does not use public URL shorteners (no bit.ly, no t.co, no goo.gl).

How members and parents opt in (the Message Flow)

Godpleasers has exactly one opt-in method: the public web form at godpleasers.app/register. No SMS is sent to any number until that number has been entered on the form, the consent checkbox has been affirmatively checked, and a program leader at Renew Church Heber Springs has verified the enrollment.

The program does not collect SMS opt-ins via keyword text-in, paper form, verbal request, QR-code-only sign-ups (any QR code links to the same public web form), imported phone lists, purchased lists, or any third-party lead source. START is honored as opt-back-in for previously-enrolled users who replied STOP, per CTIA convention — this is not an initial opt-in pathway.

SMS enrollment is optional and is never a condition of participating in the youth performing arts ministry. Consent is freely given by the user, is never bundled with any purchase, fee, donation, or service, and members who do not enroll in SMS can fully participate in every aspect of the ministry through in-person announcements, email, paper handouts, and phone calls.

Step-by-step: web form opt-in

The form is hosted at godpleasers.app/register and is publicly accessible (no login, no fee).

Step 1 — User opens godpleasers.app/register

The page shows a complete pre-form disclosure: program name (Godpleasers — Renew Church Heber Springs youth performing arts ministry), message types, frequency expectations (typically 1-15 msgs/wk during active weeks), cost disclaimer (msg & data rates may apply), opt-out instructions (reply STOP), help instructions (reply HELP), links to the Privacy policy and Terms, and an explicit statement that phone numbers will not be sold, rented, or shared.

Step 2 — User submits the form with explicit consent

The user enters their name, mobile phone number, and role (parent / youth / leader / volunteer). They must check a not-pre-checked SMS consent box that restates the program identity, the cost disclaimer, the opt-out path, and confirms the phone number will not be shared with third parties. Submitting without checking the box is rejected with an explicit error message.

Step 3 — System confirms receipt and shows the welcome-message preview

On submit, the form POSTs to api.godpleasers.app/api/optin. The server validates the phone number (U.S. 10-digit format) and the consent flag, stores the opt-in record in the program's database, and returns a confirmation. The page replaces the form with a success panel that includes the verbatim welcome message the user will receive once a program leader verifies the enrollment.

Step 4 — Leader verifies, system sends the welcome SMS

A program leader at Renew Church Heber Springs verifies the enrollment in the program admin tool and adds the user to the appropriate groups. The system then sends the single welcome SMS shown below.

The welcome message

Once a program leader verifies a new enrollment, the system sends this single welcome SMS:

Welcome to Godpleasers — the SMS coordination tool for the Renew Church Heber Springs youth performing arts ministry.

You're receiving this because you (or your household) signed up at godpleasers.app/register. Msg frequency varies (typically 1-15 msgs/wk during active weeks). Msg & data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to opt out anytime. Reply HELP for help, or contact info@godpleasers.app. Privacy: godpleasers.app/privacy

After the welcome, the user receives only program-relevant messages for the groups they've been added to. Each member can reply directly to any program message; program leadership receives replies in the admin tool.
